Madewell accepts returns of items purchased in stores, online, over the phone, or ordered in stores for delivery. You can return defective items and other products as long as they aren’t:

  • Used (beauty products)
  • Damaged
  • Washed
  • Worn
  • Without original liners and tags (this only applies to lingerie, bodywear, and swimsuits)

You have 30 days from purchase to return the products. You can even return international purchases.

If you wish to return gifts or merchandise purchased with cash, you must have the original gift receipt. Mail orders can be returned to stores and vice versa.

Madewell Return Policy Restrictions

Madewell doesn’t accept returns of merchandise that is:

  • Altered
  • Customized
  • Marked as final sale
  • Monogrammed
  • Vintage

If you purchased a Madewell product through a third-party seller, you must return it directly to the merchant in question following the instructions from the package because Madewell distribution centers and stores won’t accept it.

How Long Is the Madewell Return, Exchange, and Refund Processing Time?

Once they receive a return request, Madewell takes about two weeks to process it. After the processing is complete, you’ll receive confirmation via email. If you file a refund request, you’ll receive the money to the original payment method within five business days.
