Learn How To Request a Costco Executive Membership Refund Difference

Costco is a U.S.-based wholesale corporation. Its headquarters are in Seattle, WA, and it is one of the biggest rivals to Walmart. When companies don’t stick to everything they say they offer, a customer can always request to end their membership or ask for a refund. If Costco has wronged you in any way, DoNotPay can help you get your money back!

What Is a Costco Executive Membership?

Costco memberships are available to all individuals 18 years of age and over. They have the right to refuse membership to any person who wants to apply and terminate their memberships without cause. Take a look at some other rules that apply to Costco’s memberships:

  • The membership fee lasts for 12-months
  • You may have one Executive Membership per household or business
  • You should report lost or stolen cards to Costco ASAP or call 1-800-774-2678
  • Cards are Costco’s property and have to be given back upon request

There are two types of Costco’s memberships:

  • Gold Star Costco Membership—This is a standard membership level. There are no special benefits, and it costs $60 per year
  • Gold Star Executive Costco Membership—The Executive Costco membership costs twice as much as the standard one—$120. It does come with a lot of benefits, the most important one being the cash-back option that we will talk about in detail below

If you are not satisfied with the service, you can always cancel Costco membership with the help of DoNotPay in just a few steps. And since many people are charged when their subscription renews automatically, you can avoid having to pay for free trials when they end by using our virtual credit card.

Costco Executive Membership Difference

If you have a Costco executive membership, you have the option of getting your money back. If you haven’t earned at least the amount of money you spent on the Executive membership by the end of the year, Costco will refund you the difference between the Executive and Standard memberships (about $60), downgrading you to the Standard Membership. If this did happen, it would be like you were using the Executive membership but paying for the Standard one.

If you upgrade to an Executive Membership, you will receive an annual 2% reward. This reward can’t exceed $1,000 yearly:

Monthly Purchases Yearly Purchases Approximate Annual Reward
$250 $3,000 $60
$500 $6,000 $120
$800 $9,600 $192
$1,250 $15,000 $300
$2,500 $30,000 $600
$4,170 $50,040 $1,000 max.

Executive Membership 2% Reward

Costco Executive Members receive a 2% Reward on qualified purchases, and it can’t exceed $1,000 for a year. Only purchases made by the Primary and active Primary Household Cardholder on the account will count for the Reward. If the Primary Household Cardholder is removed from the account, their purchases will not apply for the Reward.

The Reward is granted around three months before the member’s renewal date in a Renewal Statement and looks only at rewards earned until the issue date. A member must be an active, paid Executive Member when they are about to receive the reward.
