The Dell Return Policy Explained

The Dell return policy includes a 30-day return period that applies to most products purchased directly from Dell. Before you do anything, you must call Dell customer service and acquire the Credit Return Authorization (CRA) number. To contact customer support, enter your Dell order number in the Online Order Support page and look for phone or email info.

How To Return a Dell Product by Yourself

Use the Online Order Support page to initiate your return and choose one of the two options:

  1. Drop off to a carrier store nearby
  2. Pick up by a carrier

After getting the CRA number and return approval, send the product to Dell. Do it by following these steps:

  1. Make sure to pack all products if there is more than one
  2. Send them in their original packaging
  3. Do not forget to pack any documentation or other item that was in the original shipment
  4. If you choose to drop off the package, print out the return label sent by Dell via email

Note that Dell may charge a restocking fee of 15% of the purchase price. You can avoid this only if the return is a result of Dell’s error.

The Dell Outlet Return Policy

If you purchase a Dell Outlet electronic device or accessory but then decide that it is not for you, you can send it back. Do it within the first 30 days to get a full refund and free shipping! In this case, Dell will waive the restocking fee.

The Dell Alienware Return Policy

The official Dell return policy applies to Alienware products. If you want to return any of them, do it within the initial 30 days. The return process is the same.

The Dell Refurbished Return Policy

To return your refurbished system, send it back up to 21 days from the purchase date. This does not refer to refurbished servers and storage, which you may send back up to 30 days from the invoice date.

The Dell TV Return Policy

If you plan on returning a Dell TV, you can do it within the first 30 days of the purchase. The TV must be in its original packaging that includes the box and protective cushioning. If you threw the box away, be sure to provide another packaging.
