How to Delete Your Zola Account Easily

Congratulations, newlywed! You've probably had a VERY busy year with a lot going on. Now, you're probably wondering , as well as all the other wedding planning sites you've joined since your engagement. So let us help you get a clean slate, so you can get on with your new life—even if you've lost your password, or even if (gasp!) you've been banned from an account.

How to Delete Zola Accounts On Your Own

Guess what? Deleting a Zola account isn't as easy as it is with other bridal websites. You can deactivate your Zola account from their website, but in order to permanently delete it, you'll have to jump through a hoop or two. Let's get started, beginning with the do-it-yourself method.

Step One: Temporarily deactivate your Zola account

Doesn't it seem odd that Zola operates as if you're going to get married again soon? Zola wants to keep you on their membership rolls for any number of reasons, from being able to show high readership numbers to their advertisers, to having a longer mailing list to sell. (You'll have to check their most recent Terms of Service and privacy policies to make sure). That's why it's important to completely cancel your Zola account, rather than simply deactivate it. Here's how:

  1. Log in to your Zola account
  2. Click on the "Website" option in the navigation bar on the top of the page
  3. Click the blue "Hide Website" button, located at the top right of the screen.

You can also go to your Privacy settings and take the following steps:

  1. Toggle the setting to "Website is Not Visible".
  2. Click the radio button "No" to hide your website from search engines.
  3. Click the radio button "No" to hide your website and registry from searches by friends and family.

It can take up to 30 days for your new settings to take effect.

Step Two: Permanently delete your Zola account

  1. Go to www.zola.com.
  2. Scroll down to the bottom of the home page, and click "Contact Us".
  3. Scroll down about three-quarters of a page, and click the blue "Submit a Request" button.
  4. Fill out the form as follows:
  • Add the e-mail address you used to sign up for Zola.
  • Select "No" after the question, "Are you a wedding guest?"
  • In the Subject field, write "Completely Delete My Account".
  • In the Note field, write: "My name is (xxxx). Please delete my Zola account and any personal information associated with it. I have already deactivated my account. For identification information, my username is (xxx), and my wedding date was (xxx). If you need to contact me, please do so at the e-mail address provided." If you have additional identification information, provide it, but DO NOT provide your birthday or social security information, as this form may not be secure, putting your information at risk.
  1. Add any attachments you feel are necessary, such as a written letter with the above information and the date. If you do this (and we recommend that you do), keep a copy for your own records.
  2. Click "Submit".

It will take approximately 30 days for Zola to permanently delete your account.
