How to Delete a Yelp Business Account

Yelp makes it nearly impossible to remove your business from the site. While deleting your account will relinquish control, individuals will still be able to view your business, although it will show a 'closed' status. You will need the help of DoNotPay to submit a demand letter on your behalf if the account needs to be deleted altogether.

  • Go to the business account closure page by clicking this link.
  • Fill out your business details in the text boxes.
  • Click 'Search' and scroll through the results until you find your business.
  • Click 'Select this business.'
  • Fill out the form, and be sure to use the email you used when you initially signed up.
  • Click 'Send.'
  • Wait until you receive an email from Yelp that gives you the option to confirm that you want to disassociate from the business account.

Remember, you are only relinquishing control of the account. Information such as reviews will remain associated with the business listing. Also, even if the business shows closed, consumers can still write reviews long after the fact.

Alternatively, if you have a Yelp account and for some reason are locked out of it or banned, DoNotPay can help appeal your ban.

Reasons to Delete Your Yelp Account

With the digital age comes the ability to rapidly transfer information and store it. A lot of times, our browsers will store our names, emails, phone numbers, and even credit card numbers and give us the option to quickly autofill this information. It's only a matter of seconds before you've signed up for an account with a service simply because it was easy.

It Stores Sensitive InformationWhen you sign up for a consumer Yelp account, you input information such as your gender, name, and address of which Yelp stores. When you sign up for a business Yelp account, depending on the features you use, it can also store your credit card information. Yelp also views and stores your location when the application is running. If you haven't logged into your account for a long period, you should delete it immediately. Unmonitored accounts are more prone to data breaches because of their sparse activity.
Yelp Shares Information with Third PartiesWhile this isn't an uncommon practice among subscription applications, it is a bit unsettling to know that your information is getting shared with companies you don't even know about. If you transact or make reservations through Yelp with other businesses, Yelp has the right to publicly display this.
An Overload in CommunicationsIt's almost as if every business asks for an email these days, inundating our inbox with marketing spam and pointless content. Important emails are overlooked, getting absorbed by the influx of these e-blasts. If you don't consistently use Yelp, deleting your account will prevent this.
