Richmond County Correctional Institution is located in Augusta, Georgia. It was opened in 1963 and renovated in 1983. Richmond County Correctional Institution (also known as RCCI) can house 350 male inmates at a time. With eight dormitories for inmates and two administrative dormitories, Richmond County Correctional Institution has a goal of rehabilitating inmates through a structured environment and with good work details, in hopes of releasing  more productive, disciplined, and responsible individuals back into society. They also provide programs and services, such as counseling, medical service, and GED assistance, to help inmates obtain jobs once released.

How to Contact Inmates at Richmond County Correctional Institution

There are several options you have when it comes to contacting or visiting an inmate. Here are the ways in which a person can contact a loved one at RCCI:

Visitation

When it comes to visiting an inmate, only the following people are allowed to visit:

  • Parents
  • Siblings (and their spouses)
  • Inmate's Spouse (including common-law spouse)
  • Grandparents
  • Children (including stepchildren)

Visitors that are 16 years and older are required to bring a form of identification (such as a driver's license or ID card).  Visitors must also adhere to the dress code. No gifts or personal items can be brought to the inmate during visitation; only change for the vending machine is allowed.

Phone Calls

Richmond County Correctional Institution uses Securus Technologies to allow friends and family members of inmates to make phone calls to each other. Before any call can be made, a person needs to set up an account for prepaid calls. To set up an account, you can call the Securus number mentioned above or visit Securus online to set up an account. Inmates are allowed 20 phone numbers and are only allowed to call those specific numbers.

Mail

Letters can be sent to the mailing address previously mentioned above for inmates at Richmond County Correctional Institute. All incoming and outgoing letters are inspected. For packages, inmates are allowed to receive one 10 pound package per month as well as the preapproved Christmas package. All packages are packed and handled by Union Supply.

Sending Money

To send money to an inmate, you have the four following options:

On Georgia's Department Of Corrections Website, you can create a money order voucher, print it, and mail it to RCCI accordingly.

You can create a JPay account on Georgia's Department Of Corrections Website and send money through your debit or credit card to an inmate's account. You can also download JPay's app to send money as well.
  1. By Phone
The phone number to call is (800) 574-5729, and a JPay representative is available 24/7.
  1. MoneyGram
You can use MoneyGram to send money to an inmate using the Receiver Code: 6857 for Georgia's Department Of Corrections or Receiver Code: 6901 for Georgia's Probation office.
