This facility has five different units that each have their own mailing address. To send a letter to an inmate at North Kern State Prison, you must first know the name and registration number of the inmate.

Does North Kern State Prison Offer In-Person Visitation?

Effective on January 3, 2022, all visitors to must have received at least two Covid-19 vaccine shots to enter the facility. In order to be considered "fully vaccinated," it must be more than 14 days since you have received your second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. If you have not been vaccinated, you must show a negative Covid test that was taken no more than 72 hours prior to your visit.

To visit, you must first be on the inmate's approved visitor list. Have the inmate send you a blank application. Once you fill it out, you will need to return it to North Kern State Prison and wait for approval. If you have been approved, you may visit your inmate from 8:30 am to 2 pm on Saturday and Sunday. All visitations are seen on a first-come, first-serve basis. If the visitation room is full, you may have to wait until the following day, or the following weekend to visit with your inmate in person.

  • You cannot bring more than $50 in cash.
  • You cannot wear revealing clothing that is too tight or shows too much skin.
