Requesting a League of Legends Refund Using the Game Client
If you want to get a League of Legends refund on your in-game purchases, you can do so in your game client. For specific in-game purchases, you will have to submit a ticket to the League of Legends support. For submitting a request for a League of Legends refund in the game client, follow these steps:
- Log in to your LoL account using the game client
- Go to the Store, located in the top right corner of the client
- Left-click on Account, located under your Riot Points (RP) and Blue Essence (BE) balance
- Left-click on Purchase History
- Choose the item you wish to refund
- Confirm the refund request by left-clicking on Refund
In case you’ve requested a League of Legends champion refund, you will immediately get your BE back, and it will be displayed in your BE balance section. A League of Legends refund will cost you one refund token.
When you make a brand-new account, you get three refund tokens. Riot Games has made one more refund token available for the players as of January 2020. If you have not claimed your refund token, you can do so by logging in to your account.
How to Get a League of Legends Refund Through The LoL Website
If you’ve failed to get a champion, skin, or any other content refund through the game client, you can submit a request to the League of Legends Player Support for a manual refund. This can be done for purchases that occurred within the past 90 days, and you still have to own a refund token. Make sure you select the correct subjects when submitting a ticket:
- For Summoner Icons choose the Summoner Icon Refund Request and your summoner name
- For Rune Pages choose the Rune Page Refund Request and your summoner name
- For Summoner Name Changes choose Summoner Name Change and your summoner name
- For Chroma Packs choose Chroma Packs Refund Request and your summoner name
League of Legends Refund Policy
The League of Legends Refund Policy states that the players lose their right to change their mind, cancel the order, or get a refund if they are given immediate access to the digital content. In other words, if you download the content, you lose your right for a refund. There are exceptions in the League of Legends’ strict refund policy.
How Do League of Legends Refund Tokens Work?
When you log in to your account for the first time, you have three refund tokens. The refund tokens can be used to get a refund for the content that has been purchased within the 90-day limit. Each item you get a refund for will cost you one token. If you’ve purchased the Spirit Blossom Yasuo skin, you will have to spend a token to get a refund for it.
Once your item is processed, you will receive the same currency and amount you used for the transaction. For example, if Spirit Blossom Yasuo costs RP 1350, you will get that exact amount of RP back.
Items You Can Refund
The following items can be returned through the game client:
- Wards skins
- Individual chromas
- Rune pages
- Summoner name changes
- Summoner icons
- Chroma packs
Please note that Rune pages, Summoner icons, and Chroma packs cannot be refunded using the client. These items must be refunded by submitting a ticket.
Items You Can’t Refund
As stated in the League of Legends’ refund policy, these are the items that cannot be refunded:
- Account transfers
- Promotional items
- Esports summoner icons
- Hextech inventory (keys, shards, chests, etc.)
- Event passes
You cannot get a refund for boosts because this specific item is consumable. Bundles cannot be refunded because the cost of a bundle is based on the content you already own. Esports summoner icons are non-refundable because 20% of the price goes directly to the team in question, and the other 80% supports prizes, streaming, events, and more. Promotional items are not eligible for refunds because those items are free or unlocked, rather than purchased.
Possible Issues When Requesting a League of Legends Refund
If you’ve purchased an item in the LoL store by accident or you’ve mis-clicked, you will still have to use a token to refund it. In this case, you will not get a free refund. Riot Games will not provide free refunds for accidental purchases because a token was implemented to handle these situations.
It is also important to remember that LoL does not provide cash refunds for RP purchases and gifts.
