How to Cancel Viasat in a Chat

Note that Viasat says they offer a chat service, but this feature is not currently supported on their website.

How to Cancel Viasat Services Their Way

Viasat's website says that online cancellations are not possible. Their chat feature is not a working link and loops a user back to the main menu of support options. Many companies set up their websites like this intentionally or not and have varying degrees of access when it comes to receiving support. While they have an email address for people to contact them, their website says here that "you will have to call the Viasat customer service number (you can't cancel online)."

In this case, it appears that Viasat has set up its website this way because it prefers that clients follow their procedure to cancel their accounts. Viasat has some caveats when it comes to the cancelation policy. The majority of subscription services DoNotPay cancels do not have specific instructions as to how to return the original equipment. However, Viasat does have these policies, so these are included here as well.

Here's how to cancel Viasat using their preferred methods:

  • Viasat wants people to call them at (855) 810-1308 to cancel an account.
  • They also suggest having an account number ready.
  • They will cancel your account but are going to tell you to return their products.
  • Here are their instructions on how to do that here.
  • Viasat charges late fees for not returning their equipment in a timely fashion (within 30 days of disconnecting).
  • If their equipment is not returned, they will charge a maximum of $300.
  • If you are canceling a contract early, they bill people who haven't completed their contract.
  • The fee is $15/ month for each unused month in the contract.

Potential Issues With Canceling Viasat/ Exede Internet

Viasat is one of the more difficult companies to work with when it comes to ending your subscriptions. While they seem to have a variety of ways for customers to contact them, they predominately encourage those who wish to cancel their accounts to their Customer Service phone number.

If you are canceling Viasat, beware of the following:

  • There are very specific instructions for how to return the equipment and what must be sent back.
  • There is also packaging directly from UPS and shipping required to return this equipment.
  • If you are sending the equipment back, they need not only the modem but other parts from the dish.
  • If you have questions, then review this document to avoid fines.
  • Also, remember to do this within 30 days and send it back to them.
  • Check your account and see whether you have to pay fees for ending a contract early.

DoNotPay Can Cancel Your Viasat Subscription

Viasat is one of those companies where DoNotPay should be involved because they dictate all the terms for returning items, late fees, and cancelation charges. While their interest is in preserving and reusing their products, the steep fees, and fines are not in the interest of customers. It may be possible to negotiate these amounts, and if it is, it's better to have DoNotPay and a team fight the battle than you alone.

Here's how to get DoNotPay to work on this problem and cancel Viasat as painlessly (for your wallet) as possible:

  1. Log in to DoNotPay and search for the Manage Subscriptions product.

  2. Provide the name of the subscription service you want to cancel.

  3. Provide your account details such as email address and username.

Viasat may require some legwork from you in returning their product, but we can get the subscription canceled using their method and wait through the holding process for you. Once the process is over, we will tell you when it's been canceled; and, we can try to save you fines whenever possible!
