With eight dormitories for inmates and two administrative dormitories, Richmond County Correctional Institution has a goal of rehabilitating inmates through a structured environment and with good work details, in hopes of releasing more productive, disciplined, and responsible individuals back into society. They also provide programs and services, such as counseling, medical service, and GED assistance, to help inmates obtain jobs once released.

Visitation
When it comes to visiting an inmate, only the following people are allowed to visit:
- Parents

Visitors that are 16 years and older are required to bring a form of identification (such as a driver's license or ID card). Visitors must also adhere to the dress code. No gifts or personal items can be brought to the inmate during visitation; only change for the vending machine is allowed.
Phone Calls
Richmond County Correctional Institution uses Securus Technologies to allow friends and family members of inmates to make phone calls to each other. Inmates are allowed 20 phone numbers and are only allowed to call those specific numbers.
