How to Contact an Inmate at North Fork Correctional Facility

There are several ways to get in touch with a person who has been incarcerated at North Fork Correctional Facility. Your options include visitation, phone calls, and sending mail.

Visiting an Inmate

All potential visitors must fill out a "visitor request form" and get approved before they are allowed to visit an inmate. A submitted form takes approximately two months to process, during which the Oklahoma Department of Corrections conducts a background check on anyone 18 years of age or older. The inmate will notify you once the process is completed and you are approved.

When visiting, there is a dress code that you must observe. The following pieces of clothing are prohibited:

  • Hats or caps (unless for religious purposes)
  • Skirts that are cut to two inches or more above the knee
  • Low-cut skirts, dresses, or blouses
  • Any garment that leaves the shoulders exposed
  • Spandex
  • Crop tops
  • Leggings or tights
  • Clothing bearing profanity or offensive words or images
  • Any garment that is sheer or see-through
  • Backless tops

Visitors are restricted to carrying keys, a wallet, and cash in a plastic bag. Absolutely no electronic communication devices or pagers are allowed in the visitor's room. In addition, all visitors must present a valid, government-issued photo ID upon arrival.

Searches are conducted on all visitors. Failure to comply with a search order will result in the termination of the visit and possible removal from the approved visitor list. Methods of search include investigation of all items brought into the prison facility, a pat-down upon entering, x-ray machines to scan property, and the use of metal detectors.

Calling an Inmate

Inmates have access to telephones and can make outgoing calls using prepaid minutes through the prison phone plan. Facilities operated by the Oklahoma Department of Corrections have a contract with Global Tel*Link (GTL). If you wish to receive a call from an inmate at North Fork Correctional Facility, and you don't have a dedicated landline with which to do so, you'll have to set up an account with GTL. You will be charged a fee for each call, along with an additional per-minute rate.

Inmates are not allowed to receive incoming calls for any reason whatsoever. In an emergency, you will have to contact the inmate's case manager.

Sending Mail to an Inmate

Inmates can send and receive an unlimited amount of mail, as long as they can afford the postage. All mail is opened and inspected for contraband before reaching the inmate. When addressing a letter to an inmate at North Fork Correctional Facility, the proper format to use is:

Inmate Name and Inmate ID North Fork Correctional Facility 1605 East Main Sayre OK, 73662

You are not allowed to send packages directly to inmates. However, you can send books, magazines, and newspapers to an inmate through Amazon. Books and magazines cannot contain nudity, and they cannot describe the manufacture of alcohol, drugs, or weapons. All books must be new and paperback, and you cannot send more than three books at a time.

How to Send Money to an Inmate at North Fork Correctional Facility

Inmates are given access to a trust fund account upon arrival. Friends and family can deposit funds into this account, which will allow the inmate to purchase items from the commissary that include clothing, hygiene products, food, snacks, stationery, and stamps. To send money to an inmate at North Fork Correctional Facility, you must mail a money order made payable to the inmate to:

CoreCivic Inmate Trust Inmate's First Name, Last Name, and Commissary# North Fork Correctional Facility PO Box 16545 Atlanta, GA 30321-0545

Alternatively, you can send money to inmates located at North Fork Correctional through Western Union. You will need to utilize the "bill pay form" and the following information:

  • Company Name: Corrections Corp of America
  • Account Number: Inmate's Commissary # and last name
  • Code: TRUSTCCA
  • State: TN

Cash and personal checks will not be accepted.

Challenges Of Contacting an Inmate at North Fork Correctional Facility

While they can make a limited number of outgoing phone calls, inmates at North Fork Correctional Facility cannot receive incoming phone calls. This means that letters and visitation are the most effective ways to get in touch with them. However, visiting an inmate can be difficult if the correctional facility is far away or if the visiting hours don't work with your schedule.

In addition, inmates are moved to various facilities for several reasons, sometimes without notification. So locating an inmate and getting the information you need to address a letter to them can be a hassle.
