Contacting Inmates at the Washington Corrections Center for Women

There are several ways for you to contact an inmate at the Gig Harbor Women's Prison. You are encouraged to do what you can if your loved one is being held here since it will give your friend or family member an incentive to not make mistakes when they are released.

  1. Visitation

You are allowed to visit the prison only if you have submitted the visitor application and been approved. An application must be completed in the name of anyone who intends to visit, whether they are a minor or an adult. You must keep in mind:

  • Only three visitors can attend at one time. Infants and children are considered one visitor each.
  • You must complete an appointment request form before the date and time you wish to visit.
  • Emergencies and other unexpected circumstances may stop your ability to visit without notice.
  • You will be searched upon entry to the facility.

For a full list of rules and requirements for visitation, you will need to contact the prison.

  1. Video Visitation

To use video visitation, you must fill out the form to be an approved visitor. You will also need a JPay account and the inmate's DOC number. An active internet connection and video call abilities are recommended.

  1. Phone Calls

Inmates are free to call out of the prison. Family members are not allowed to call the inmate. If you wish to have your loved one contact you, you can put money on a phonecard, which will make it easier for them to contact you or others.

You must schedule your visit at least 24 hours in advance of the desired time and gives you 30-60 minutes of face time. The price for this visit will be $7.95 per 30-minute visit.

  1. Work Release Visits

As an inmate nears their release date, there may be an opportunity for you to take part in their work-release program. However, Covid-19 may have changed some policies so if you are interested, contact the facility.

  1. Mailing Letters

You can mail inmates letters at any time. However, your letter must only contain your words. No messages from other parties may be included in a letter from you. You may also be limited on the volume, length, and content of your letters to the inmate.

To ensure delivery, you should:

  • Include the Inmate's Full Name
  • Their Six Digit DOC Number
  • The Facility Address
  • The Name of the Inmate's Facility
  • On the Envelope, You Must Have Your Return Address
  1. Send Money

You can send money to an inmate using JPay, Western Union, Cashier's Checks, or Money Orders. Please note, that all funds may have mandatory deductions added to them, meaning what you send and what the inmate receives may vary slightly.

The entire process can take, no matter which one you choose to use, can be time-consuming and, at times, frustrating. DoNotPay would like to offer their assistance to make it easier for you.
