How Can You Contact Inmates at Stiles Unit

Stiles Unit allows visitations, phone calls, and mail. Here's a breakdown of the rules that apply to each.

  1. Visitations

Inmate visitations in Stiles Unit happen Monday to Wednesday between 1 PM and 5 PM, and Saturday to Sunday, between 8 AM to 5 PM. Before visiting a loved one, you'll need to fill out an application online or through the warden's office. The visit scheduling should happen at least one day before the actual visit, but not more than seven days before the day you intend to visit.

An offender can only receive two adult visitors at a time, although this limit does not bind individuals under 18. The visitors should also be on the visitor list an inmate provides. If not, the visitor is not allowed to visit. So, make sure to confirm with the Wardens office whether you are on the visitor list or not.

During the visit, you can bring up to $25 in quarters or lower to purchase items in the vending machine. Keep in mind that the Texas Department of Criminal Justice advises visitors to dress conservatively.

What Can't You Bring in a Stiles Unit Inmate Visit?

You cannot bring intoxicative beverages, controlled substances, or digital devices like phones and cameras. There's also a remote visitation available through Securus. It costs $10 per hour and is limited to once per month.

  1. Phone Calls

You can't call an inmate in the Stiles Unit, but they can call you within the allowed hours. The call duration is usually 30 minutes, and it may be recorded for security monitoring. The offender can use a collect call where you are charged for the phone calls incoming from Stiles Unit. You could also top up an inmate's phone account through Secura so that they can make prepaid calls to you.

Secura, a phone service provider to Stiles Unit, charges $0.06 per minute for each phone call.

  1. Mail

You can send a letter to a loved one incarcerated at the Stiles Unit. The letter should be addressed to:

Inmate Name, TDCJ ID Number

Stiles Unit

3060 FM 3514

Beaumont, TX 77705

All the letters are usually photocopied. The inmates receive the photocopied letters, while the jail staff keeps the original.

Book packages should come directly from a recognized publisher or Amazon. The books should be softcover and not exceed 10 in a single package. Don't include the following as they may be discarded:

  • Cash
  • Stamps
  • Prepaid envelopes in the package or letter
