Deadline to Request SAT Accommodations

The pressure placed on the shoulders of all high school students as they prepare to take the SAT test is very high. This test has long been used as a benchmark against which colleges and universities can judge the intellectual abilities of various students. Fair or not, this is what many institutions of higher learning use as their way of weeding out who they will or will not take into their hallowed halls. Every student deserves a fair shot when they take this test, and there are some who need to know about the SAT accommodations deadline so they can be registered for those as needed. DoNotPay can help make sure this happens.

Aside from SAT accommodations, DoNotPay can also assist with accommodations in:

What Are Testing Accommodations?

The SAT is a standardized test which means that everyone who takes it is supposed to be given an equal shot at success on the test. However, this is challenging for people who may have intellectual or physical handicaps that make it harder for them to focus like ADHD, to sit still for a prolonged period of time, or who have challenges with something like dyslexia. Here are some issues that may require a special accommodation when taking this test:

  1. English-speaking skill difficulties
  2. ADA recognized physical disabilities
  3. Learning disabilities
  4. Mental disabilities such as bipolar disorder, anxiety, etc.

That is not a comprehensive list of reasons why someone may apply for accommodations when taking this test, but it gives you a good idea of how many things may fall under the categories necessary for receiving an accommodation to take this test. It is a good idea to check with the people who create the SAT test to see if any issue that you are concerned about may fall under the categories for which they will make special exceptions. You do not want to make the test any harder than it already is, and that means you need to get special accommodations when they are appropriate for you.

What Type Of Documentation Do You Need?

There are certain types of documentation that may be requested of you before taking the test to prove your disability or need for additional time. It is important that you work with the SAT officials to make sure they will recognize your specific needs and make the accommodations that you need so you can take the test on an equal footing with everyone else.

In order to do so, they may request documents such as:

  • Medical records
  • Records of previous testing accommodations
  • Documents of individual assessments
  • Personal statements from those who can attest to the existence of your disability
  • School transcripts and records

It is likely that you will NOT have to provide every single one of these documents to prove that you have the disability that you claim you have, but you probably need to bring at least some of them if you want to receive the help that you need. Thus, you should prepare yourself now for the possibility of having to turn over your records to receive the help that you need so that it doesn't become a big ordeal when the time comes to turn over those records. In other words, get everything together now so it is easier to present this information to those who need to see it.
