Chargebacks and Refunds How to File RBS Disputes and Get Compensated

How to Claim Chargebacks for RBS Disputes Easily

If you have made a transaction with your debit card and something isn't quite right, RBS may be able to assist you in getting your money back. You have the right to contest a chargeback for a product you freely purchased. If you did not not receive the intended product, or it is damaged, or you are dissatisfied with the services you received, your credit card company can help you get your money back.

Disputing might be a difficult task for some, but DoNotPay is here to assist you. We'll go through everything you need to know about chargebacks for RBS disputes.

How to Get Rbs Chargebacks on Your Own

The steps below show how to start a chargeback for RBS disputes:

Step 1: Initial Dispute

When a cardholder contacts the issuing bank to dispute a transaction, the chargeback process begins. Each transaction has the potential to result in a chargeback. Multiple chargebacks may be lodged if more than one transaction is in the issue.

Step 2: The Provisional Refund

The cardholder receives a conditional refund. The issuer then recovers the funds from your acquirer, who subsequently debits your merchant account for the amount of the original transaction, plus any applicable costs.

Step 3: The Reason Code

The issuing bank adds a numeric reason code to the chargeback at this point in the process and then electronically communicates all chargeback information to your acquirer. The acquirer will review the information before being forwarded to you.

Step 4: The Option to Represent

You can accept the chargeback or contest it if you believe the claim is invalid. Examine your acquirer's Chargeback Debit Advice Letter to determine whether it's wise to pursue representment.

Step 5: Compile Your Documents

You must act quickly and gather the essential paperwork to reply to the cardholder's claim. This includes:

  1. Chargeback Debit Advice Letter
  2. A response letter
  3. Reversal request

You must provide persuasive proof to back up your allegation.

Step 6: Submit the Representment Package

Your acquiring bank will get your response along with supporting documentation. The acquirer checks the case for accuracy before sending it to the issuer. Because you're essentially re-presenting the transaction to the issuer, this is referred to as “representment."

Step 7: Bank Review & Decisioning

The issuing bank reviews the information. There will be one of three outcomes:

  1. The issuer decides in your favour. The original transaction is validated by your representation case. The funds are returned to your bank account when the transaction amount is re-charged to the cardholder's account.
  2. In the cardholder's favour, the issuer decides that your proof was insufficient to persuade the bank to reverse the chargeback. The decision of the issuer is final.
  3. The issuer files a second chargeback after you win. The issuer can submit a second chargeback for the same transaction. The discovery of new information or a modification in the reason code is the possible reason for a second filing.

Step 8: Arbitration

The stakes are high at this point. When you request arbitration, you ask the card network to make a fair decision. The card company's judgement will be final, and the party who caused the disagreement might face substantial penalties.

How Long Will It Take to Receive the RBS Refund?

There are no exact timelines for how long a refund will take, but if you are waiting for one, it will take 15 days to reflect on your account. If you haven't spoken with the company about your concerns after 15 days, we strongly advise you to do so.
