How to Use a Burner Card for Porcupine Grill Reservations
Many restaurants have taken to the practice of requiring you to provide them with credit card information in order to make a reservation at their establishment. This comes along with the promise that "no charges will be put on your card". It begs the question, "Why do you need my credit card information if you're not going to charge me anything to book my reservation?" Many people rightfully notice that something is off with this practice, and they wish not to give their credit card information to the establishment when making a reservation.
Consider the fact that about 30% of people don't have access to a credit card, which many restaurants require in order to make reservations. Does this mean that 30% of people should not be allowed to make reservations? DoNotPay believes that this is not fair to those who do not have access to credit cards, and we are here to make it possible for everyone to make reservations, whether they have a credit card or not.
What Is the Porcupine Grill?
The Porcupine Grill strongly believes in both buying local and supporting local businesses within the community. The menu and bar that they run are reflective of this.
They serve a variety of options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as a menu for children. You can enjoy your meal paired with an appetizer or dessert. There is a large variety of beer, wines, spirits, and coffees to go with your meal, as well as a complete selection of fountain drinks. From salads to burgers, you will find something on their pub's menu for everyone.
How Do You Make Reservations at the Porcupine Grill?
The Porcupine Grill accepts reservations for smaller groups of any size, less than 16 patrons at any time that we are open. You are welcome to come to dine at your leisure between the hours of 11 AM and 10 PM Monday through Friday and 9:30 AM to 10:00 PM on Saturdays and Sundays. Porcupine Grill offers a special brunch special from 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM on Saturdays and Sundays.
Porcupine Grill offers dining for large groups and parties that consist of 16 or more people, but only accept them during non-peak hours, either at 11 AM or between 2 to 4 PM. They provide a preset banquet menu selection for meals that includes a set of menus including beverages, entrees, and desserts.
Credit cards are required to hold a reservation for all groups and reservations regardless of what size. You must cancel at least 72 hours in advance, and if your party is late or does not show, then they have the right to use the tables served for you to seat other guests.
What Personal Information Can Someone Get if They Have My Credit Card Information?
When someone gets your credit card information, they can gain access to a virtual treasure trove of your personal information. Not only can information about your credit be compromised, but also information that can give away your identity can be stolen as well.
The following is some of the information that people can get access to if your credit card information and/or account is compromised:
- Full name
- Date of Birth
- Social Security Number
- Phone Number
- Complete Address
- Credit Card Number
- CVV Code
- PIN Number
Keeping your credit card information private and knowing where your credit cards are at all times is key to preventing identity theft and credit card fraud from happening. Moreover, checking your balance on your credit card regularly helps you know if any unauthorized charges made it onto your account, such as those from a reservation that wasn't supposed to be there.
What Alternatives Do I Have to Giving Out My Credit Card Information?
Many people are not comfortable giving out their credit card information to a restaurant such as the Porcupine Grill for reservations, even if they promise not to charge the card. If you are one of them, then communicating that with the establishment is the best way to go.
You can try some of the alternatives listed below:
- Call the location and explain your concerns about giving away personal credit card information and why you don't want to share that information.
- Explain that you do not have access to a credit card to use for reservations (even if you do have access to one, you are protecting your own private information).
- Try to use an expired credit card that can't actually be charged for a certain sum of money.
- Consider opening a separate credit card that you use just for booking reservations (if your finances and credit score allow it - that way it's easy to spot any fraudulent charges or hidden fees as your other expenses are not put on that card).
- Use a burner card to book reservations.
Many restaurants, hotels, or other businesses that require credit cards for reservations may not be willing to work out alternatives, though. In such cases, consider choosing different places to go where a credit card is not required for reservations.
What Is a Burner Credit Card?
A burner credit card is a credit card that is a virtual or a single-use credit card. Using a burner credit card allows you to book your reservations for a restaurant, hotel, or another facility that you may wish to use.
The burner cards expire after one use, so businesses cannot use your information to bill your card for extra charges later on. Burner credit cards can be either virtual (online) or physical plastic cards.
