How Can I Contact an Inmate at Ohio State Penitentiary?

Ohio state prison allows inmates to contact outsiders in the following ways:

  1. By Phone Call

Ohio state penitentiary uses Global Tel Link's automated call for inmates to call outsiders. The automated call system will contact you three times a week until you approve or reject the call. However, you must first be on the inmate's approved call list. You must also have a prepaid account with Global Tel Link; if you don't have one, call 1-877-650-4249 and create an account.

  1. Contact the Inmate by Mail

  1. Visit the Inmate at the Facility 

Ohio State only allows visitation by appointment. To schedule an appointment, call  (330)-743-0700 or send an email to the facility.

Visiting days begin from Wednesday to Sunday from 8:30 am-2:30 pm.

The prison also allows video visitation through JPay only if you are an approved visitor. To schedule a video visitation, first sign up with JPay.

How to Send Money to an Ohio State Penitentiary Inmate

Ohio state penitentiary only allows people on the inmate's visitation list to send them money through the following ways:

  1. Deposit the Money in Person

If you are on the visitor's approved list, walk into the Kiosk located at the prison facility entry. Deposit the money through cashier check, debit/credit card and provide a state ID containing magnetic strip that can make it easier to swipe.

  1. Deposit Online 

Sign up to Offenderconnect, then use your debit/credit card to deposit the money in the inmate's account. Make sure you provide the DOC number and the names of the inmates.

  1. By Mail

First, purchase a money order, fill out all the necessary information, and make it payable to JPay. Provide the inmate's name and ID number. You will be required to fill out an Ohio Inmate Money Order Deposit Form before sending it together with the money order to the following address:

  1. Deposit the Money Over the Phone

Call 1-888-988-4768 and follow the guide provided by the customer representative. Provide the inmate's full names, DOC numbers, and account numbers. You should also provide your debit/credit card information, then deposit the amount you wish.

Can I Send Packages to an Inmate at Ohio State Penitentiary?

Yes, you can send packages to an inmate. Inmates at the Ohio State Penitentiary can only receive care packages from outside. All packages are subject to the rules and regulations of the facility. The items allowed include:
