What Are the Ways to Connect With an Inmate at Edna Mahan Correctional Facility?

There are several ways to connect with your loved one: In-person, through the mail, and by phone. You can also send an inmate money for sundry purchases at the commissary.

In-person Contact

You can visit an inmate once you have been added to an approved visitor list. This application can be sent by the inmate, or you can call and request that an application be sent to you. It can take anywhere from 21 to 45 days for the approval process to be completed.

Once you have been approved, your visitation window depends on if the inmate is housed in the minimum or the medium/maximum facility.

  1. Minimum Compound
  • Mondays and Thursdays from 7pm-9pm (registration from 6:30pm-7:30pm)
  • Saturdays from 1pm-3:30pm (registration from 12:30pm-1:30pm)
  1. Maximum Compound
  • Wednesdays and Fridays from 7pm-9pm (registration from 6:30pm-7:30pm)
  • Saturdays from 9am-11am (registration from 8:30am-9:30am)

Three adults can visit at a time and up to 6 people including children are the maximum allowed. If unsure of the rules for visitation contact the prison.  Violations of rules can result in visitation privileges being suspended.

Mail Contact

Inmates can be contacted through the mail immediately after being confined. All mail must contain the inmate's full name and ID number. You need to follow the following format:

Inmate Name, ID Number Edna Mahan Correctional Facility for Women P.O. Box 4004 Clinton, New Jersey 08809

Keep in mind that all mail will be inspected upon receipt.

Phone Contact

Though you will not be able to call an inmate, they can call you. First, however, you must set up a prepaid account. Check the website for details on setting up this account.
